WELCOME

More than just a rescue

If you can no longer properly care for a horse, that does not make you a bad person, nor should you be afraid or too proud to ask for help. Letting them starve to death does make you bad! (a criminal in fact)

PLEASE, DON'T BE ASHAMED OR AFRAID TO CONTACT US FOR HELP.
Not all the equines we deal with have suffered or been abused, in fact many were not. We can help before that happens. We understand that circumstances change. All of our lives we deal with these changes. Just because you can no longer afford the time, or maybe you just plain can't afford the expense of taking care of your equine, this does not make you a bad person; especially if you are doing the right thing...... read more >>>

Adoptable horses
Horses are, by their very nature, beautiful. They have, however, very different personalities just like people do. Our goal is to find the right horse that fits right in to your lifestyle, your home and your heart. Check out some of our ... adoptable horses>>>

Horses in Rehab
Horses in rehabilitation are not healthy enough or, for other reasons, are not yet ready to be adopted at this time. They receive special care from the experienced staff at Wayward Horse Foundation and as needed by one of the great veterinarians we use. Meet some of our horses in rehab>>>

Resident Horses
These are Equines that might never be adopted out. They remain at WHF for special reasons. See our resident horses>>>

Sponsor a Horse
It has become part of our society to throw away the old and broken and replace it with the new and improved. When you sponsor a horse, you support all horses, old and young alike. Help a horse through sponsorship. Learn more >>>

Memorials
These are poems or stories about horses that people miss very much. If you would like a special memorial page for your friend, send us an electronic photo, if you have one, along with a poem or story and a small donation. Learn more >>>

Be a Foster Parent
Have room for one more? How would you like to help an equine in need by providing a temporary place in your pasture and in your heart? Learn more >>>

So who are some of our friends?
Contrary to popular belief, we are NOT government funded nor have we recieved grants to operate with. We depend strictly on donations to continue saving these horses. Even the adoption prices do not cover what we have had to spend in the recovery of these horses. WE DEPEND ON PEOPLE LIKE YOU! Do you know some one on this list; Is your name on this list? "It was a pleasure to chat with you..  It was wonderful that something in common that we have is Horseback riding.  A lifetime hobby.  The Hippotherapy that treated my condition as an Aspergian. I was affected by autism but I'm inspiring lots of autistic childens parents."

(In hippotherapy, the patient engages in activities on the horse that are enjoyable and challenging).

There is just NO excuse for this!!! Starved Horse

12/ 14/07

We know none of our friends would let this happen! This is why we do what we do! Although this mare didn’t make it, we have 3 more from the same herd that has survived and is receiving rehabilitation. (Their pics will be on the web site soon) They are all very gentle loving horses and will be wonderful additions to who ever adopts them. They are young and easily handled. PLEASE help us pay the vet bills by clicking the donate button on our profile page or sending it to our PO Box. Even a small $10 donation adds up and will allow us to continue helping these and other horses like them. As fellow horse lovers, we can all make a difference together.

THANK YOU,

James, Terri, and the whole herd at Wayward Horse Foundation
